Proud
recipient of the Edjar K. Hansen Memorial Award - 2001
The Edjar
K. Hansen Memorial Award was conceived by founding members
of the Petaluma Council (now Chapter) of Realtors in 1978.
The late Ed Hansen had owned a small real estate company in Petaluma with his
brother Clarence. In Ed's day there were far more small independent offices
and not much professional management for the larger ones. Brokers and their
associates couldn't always find answers to their technical questions and ethical
dilemmas within their own companies. Ed became known as the kind of broker
who was always willing to share his knowledge and ideas with others.
He saved as much information as he could get his hands on and would be happy
to open up his files to find something to help a colleague. If another broker
wanted to discuss a transaction problem, Ed was happy to receive the call.
It did not matter that the caller was also a competitor; Ed Hansen believed
that we should all be helpful to one another.
The award that bears his name is given each year to an outstanding Petaluma
Realtor whose professional conduct reflects the same principles of sharing
knowledge and ideas to help fellow Realtors do a better job for their clients.
